Three Best Acne Spot Treatment Options on the Market Today

There are many an acne spot treatment that will claim to clear up your acne overnight.  Unfortunately, many of these claims only lead to acne sufferers becoming victims of a good marketing strategy.  Tell me, did that last spot treatment you bought clear up your acne?  Probably not, or you wouldn’t be looking for an acne spot treatment right now.

I have suffered with acne for over seven years now, so I know how painful and embarrassing acne can be.  That’s why I can tell you with 100% confidence that there is nothing to clear up your acne overnight.  However, there are some things you can do at home that will lighten the appearance of your acne overnight, take down the swelling, and reduce the redness.

1. Acne sulfur treatment: There are many sulfur (or sulphur) treatments available at stores and online.  Many of them cost less than .  I personally use the free bottle that comes with my Proactiv kit.  Just dab a little sulfur ointment on your zit, leave it sit for 10-15 minutes, and wash it off.  Oftentimes there’s puss in my zit that will follow the sulfur right down the drain.  It works very quickly for me.  Keep up with the sulfur on that same spot for the next few days, and you will also be able to keep down the redness of your zit and help prevent a scar.

2. Acne orange peel treatment: Vitamin C is one of the best vitamins for acne, especially when applied topically.  Simply grate a little bit of orange peel into a couple teaspoons of water, mix it up into a paste, and apply it to your pimple.  Leave it on until it dries, then rinse it off.  Keep up with this treatment for a few days until your pimple depressurizes and leaves you with only a tiny bump.

3. Benzoyl peroxide: This is probably the most common acne spot treatment.  When  you’re looking for a benzoyl peroxide treatment, go for the gold.  A 10% concentration of benzoyl peroxide will do the best trick for your zits, especially if you’re looking for an overnight fix.  You can apply it 2-3 times a day, as long as it doesn’t get severly dried out.  Be careful though, as it can stain your clothes, towels, and sheets.

How to get rid of dark/red acne spots?
I would recommend exfoliating regularly. A good exfoliating scrub is Aveeno Daily Skin Brightening Scrub:

http://www.walgreens.com/store/product.jsp?CATID=303538&navAction=jump&navCount=0&nug=VPD&skuid=sku373084&id=prod373083

It’s REALLY gentle so you can use it everyday and it won’t irritate your skin. It just gently removes dead skin layers and cells and I LOVE it. I have the same problem. I have acne spots left from when I used to pick especially. Okay so make sure you exfoliate for one thing. and also, you can apply fading treatments such as these:

Mederma
Pure Vitamin-E Oil
Bio-Oil

All of these can be found at Walgreens btw.
I personally used Bio-Oil and it works wonders for meSome people use fade creams after they exfoliate and wash their face.If you have sensitive skin don’t scrub, use a light exfoliation face wash then put on fade cream. Do this in the morning and at night when the body is rejuvenating.Give it about 6 to 8 week or less depending on how dedicated you are.
Hope it works for you like it did me , good luck!kDem, Try eating non-greasy food. That got rid of my acne in 5 weeks.Mix nutmeg powder with a little unboiled milk and apply on acne or pimples and wash after an hour this remedy when done once or twice a week for some time will not leave any acne marks on the skin . More such solutions at http://solutionsforpimples.blogspot.com/i know its kind of long but bare with me
I tried this tonight first, i used a Stridex pad around the red spots for about a minute, caution it stings a little but that is good.
Secondly, i put a little mint whitening toothpaste on until it burns and then take it off with a cool rag or wash cloth.can not be a gel has to be a PASTE
The last step that really did it for me was, to put a wash cloth under hot water and press it against your red spot as much as you can.. this will simply make it fade and or disappear.
This also works well if you have dry skin like mine.
If your skin is dry after this you can put face lotion on it will have no affect on the removal of red spot

If this is a severe case… then I don’t know what my case is!
I don’t have many pimples or zits left, but my face, especially my cheeks are COMPLETELY full of smaller and larger red spots. And I am only 14. Isn’t that great, huh? :/

  8. FlicTuckFull says:

I saw your picture of your acne from March 2010 and I have to say it gives me so much hope, seeing how much better you look just a year later!

My acne is finally starting to heal thanks to:

    Retin A – 0.01%

    and

    Green tea!

Knowing that in a year I could potentially be rid of my acne for good is amazing! My acne was never really severe, I’d call it more serious. Luckily it’s ALMOST finished now, then I just have to deal with the hyper-pigmentation!

  9. el3ctrkk123 says:

what exactly do you do with the aloe vera? does it help with the hyperpigmentation?

  10. KarisFaith316 says:

@blondchick4 Hi! I put a drop of lemon juice just on the spot, and then when it dried I added a drop of honey. Since I sleep on my side, it didn’t rub off of my chin at night – but if u have a spot somewhere like your cheek, put the honey on a bandaid to keep it on. Also during the day u can just do the lemon juice as long as you’re not going anywhere, since it makes the area red 4 an hour or so, but it does help lighten it (oh, & rinse b4 going in the sun). Hope this helps! =)

  11. thelovevitamin says:

@inlovewithjesus1980 You could put it on all areas, or just the ones you want help with! You can do it as much as you want, but it might be irritating or over drying if you do it everyday. And also, I’ve been hearing lately that there are two types of cinnamon – cassia and true cinnamon. Almost everyone uses cassia (which they call cinnamon) and it may be not be as beneficial as true cinnamon and cause a reaction! I need to do a video about that. So yes. If your skin reacts, don’t use it!

  12. inlovewithjesus1980 says:

@thelovevitamin: do i put the mask on the red areas only on my face? does the cinnamon lighten my red patches esp on my cheek areas? how often should i do this? some people say that its best to be safe than sorry if cinnamon has a bad reaction on my skin not to put it on my skin because it burns!! ?

  13. blondchick4 says:

@KarisFaith316 sorry but did yo just put lemmon juice with honey on the area of the hyperpigmintation or just put it all over your face? please help! :)

  20. thelovevitamin says:

@KarisFaith316 Cool!! I’m really glad to hear that!

  21. KarisFaith316 says:

I stupidly picked a pimple on my chin that swelled, & after I brilliantly continued to pick it formed a scab. After the scab came off I was left with a really dark hyperpigmentation spot, and three weeks later it’s almost completely gone because I use lemon juice & honey overnight!
