In the geo-political context you are black but when talking about biology and phenotype you are mixed. If any of person’s ancestors are non- black, the genes for lightskin or straight curly hair can show up in a child of theirs at any time. If you are really lightskin you are mixed and stop allowing nonblacks to define who you are. Your ancestors created you black and non black acknowledge them.
