Flaky skin from retin-a, wish I had the confidence to go makeup-free.?
Use one that is oil free. Nuetrogena has good ones and just wash off before bed. I think that would be fine.I used to use retin A due to acne but it dried my skin out too much so I stopped. I recently started using Proactive and there is marked improvement in the appearance of my skin. I can go without makeup and not feel embarrassed. It is worth trying and it comes with a moisturizing lotion which doesn’t make your skin break up but soothes it. I hope this is helpful.i am doing obagi, which involves a very high strength retin a and hydroquinone. i use mineral make up over my flaky skin because it actually looks ok and my skin can breathe underneath. mineral make up is actually good for your skin – my surgeon’s office sells it so it has to be. i haven’t had any breakouts or anything since using it. i used glo minerals but today bought some bare minerals. might be worth checking out.I have had to do this, for the same reason as you. It’s better that way, sans makeup, so your acne can have a chance to clear up. Just imagine yourself with a clear face and you won’t feel so self-conscious. I wouldn’t judge ya.I like leaving the house without underwear. Breezy lol anyway, you and my gf are in the same boat. I try and convince her that girls who don’t wear makeup are sexier, but they have it in their heads that they need it. It drives me nuts! If you must wear makeup, wear it very very lightly, and try organic or hypoallergenic brands. I can’t think of any, but if you ask the people at the pharmacy, I am sure they can recommend something. There’s no magic solution.
You either go and do it, or you do not.
Sorry. Just do it.
After a certain amount of time you will get used to it.I feel the same way about make up as you do. When you have worn it regularly for a certain amount of time it seems to become your ‘real face’ and its hard to go without. I feel very exposed without it. I have skin troubles and I find that avoiding soap products are best. I cleanse my face with wet wipes and have given up exfoliating for a while. I find that taken vitamin C and things like Starflower oil are quite good.I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM! I hated it. I carried moisturizer around with me in my backpack. I told people that I had sunburn that was peeling. But then my dermatologist gave me Differin which I use every night, and also Duac. They work great! My face has cleared up and there’s no more patchy peeling spots!
Next time you go to your dermatologist ask him/her about it!Try using a moisturizer from Neutrogena thats called Visibly Even daily moisturizer. It doesn’t work wonders, but it will help a bit with the redness and blotchiness. Don’t wear makeup, because you don’t need it, and makeup will just make your skin look worse. Putting anything over it just makes it stand out more. You can cure this. I’ve seen many makeups are irritants. Over the eyes you can exfoliate with simple warm water and a nice soft cloth. Then apply Nivea Cream from the jar (not tube) overnight.
If exfoliation is painful, apply warm compress to soothe. Redness is good, from opening blood vessels to bring healing and oxygen, and open pores to release toxins.
In the morning, wash gently and observe, your skin is clear, either immediately or in 2 – 3 days max.
Then, you can wear the hypo-allergenic makeups, if not, then a near-pharmaceutical type makeup, from certain websites. I don’t look for them, have always treated successfully with Nivea.
Four Great Dry Skin Care Tips: Find Out How To Cure And Prevent Dry Skin!
Dry skin is a common problem or concern among many people today. No need to worry, it is a common condition and easy to treat and prevent with these dry skin care tips.
Tip #1: Stay Hydrated
The first thing to do to help is to drink plenty of water to deal with dullness and dehydration. Also, do not bath in hot water. If you take a bath with warm water, it will help the skin retain moisture. After bathing, use a soft towel always to pat the skin dry as this also helps the skin stay hydrated, fresh, soft and supple.
Tip #2: Eat Healthy
It is important to exercise for overall health. A healthy body will encourage skin healthiness too. By eating healthy foods, you are not only sustaining a good body, but a body that is free of dry skin. A good diet will certainly help combat a dry skin condition. You cannot rule out psoriasis if dry, flaking, itchy skin is evident so diet is important.
A diet low in healthy foods and high in processed foods and sugar, leads to deficiencies in water intake and the intake of essential vitamins and minerals that can support healthy and beautiful skin.
Tip #3: Avoid Harsh Chemicals
Avoid scented creams because added chemicals in particular beauty products can worsen the condition. Most brands on the market today that have skin care products most likely have harsh chemicals and synthetic substances.
For example, alcohol is an ingredient that are commonly used in beauty products. Other names may be ethanol, ethyl alcohol, methanol, benzyl alcohol, isopropyl alcohol and SD. All of these are very drying and irritating to the skin. What it does is strips away the skin’s natural acid mantle which makes you vulnerable to bacteria and viruses. Alcohol might even promote the production of brown spots and other signs of aging.
TEA (triethanolamine) are also often used in skincare products to adjust the pH. It can cause allergic reactions including eye problems, and dryness of not only skin but the hair too. TEA could also be toxic if absorbed into the body over a long period of time. Considering that ingredients end up in our blood stream, this is definitely no good for your health or skin. Aside from this chemical, DEA (diethanolamine) and MEA (monoethanolamine) have the same skin and health effects and are in the same family. These three ingredients are restricted in Europe because they are to known to have carcinogenic effects as well.

I wore make-up from the age of 14-16 and then stopped. I haven’t touched it since. I now think it is one of the worse things a woman can do to her looks. That is just my opinion and I am not saying that women shouldn’t wear it. I just prefer not to. I found that wearing made me break out even more then I was trying to cover up. Now people are amazed that I will not wear any. Yeah I have pimples here and there. I am 27 and before that time of the month I get them. I just don’t care anymore though. If people don’t like it then they don’t have to look right? Most people these days don’t bother with those kind of thoughts anyways. And the ones that do aren’t mature enough for you to care about. I don’t wash my face with any specific products. What I have done for years now is wash it while in the shower with the soap that i use and other then that (since I don’t have make-up to wash off) I just use water the rest of the day to rinse my face when it feels oily. I tend to have oily/dry skin. It is odd yes but some go through this. It can go back and forth throughout the day being oily then dry then oily then dry…I think you get the picture. But using water to rinse every so often makes it even out..for me anyways. Some of my friends wash with Noxzema and swear by it. A lot of the products that people use burn your skin or make it worse. This is why I don’t bother. Been there done that and find this is the best and most effective way for me.
try using a mineral powder foundation. my face is really really prone to break outs- i use that and it works very well.
dont worry about what other people think..god made everybody different and you dont have to be a swim suit model to be beautiful.
i know with me, i always see myself worse than i really appear…
try to see yourself as beautiful, because you are
but like i said…if you really want to cover it up, use some sort of mineral power…no liquid foundations!!
well for moisturizing try putting some honey in ur moisturizer it leaves ur skin baby bottom smooth then just put some eye liner on start from the inner corner going to the middle and then going from the outer corner and connecting in the middle do it on both top and bottom of the eyes and then use ur finger if u don’t have a sponge on ur eyeliner to run a crost it and smudge it a lil bit. then for mascara curl ur eye lashes and use volumizing mascara and then follow with light pink lip gloss it looks cute and ur not wearing a million pounds of make-up. And don’t listen to anyone and what they think confidence is what many guys find hot even if other girls don’t think u r just think of urself as hot and don’t think of ur self less attractive then anyone else everyone is beautiful in their own kind of way i hoped i helped u. best wishes!
Colorscience has a sunscreen powder with a little color that is a mineral powder. It works great for redness, covers evenly no oil doesn’t clog
proactive isnt just a gimic and they have one for sensitive skin its a miracle and you wont have to wear makeup ever again unless you wanna accent your beauty its definately worth a try and the money!! over the counter suggestion: they make a generic brand of proactive but not for sensitive skin that i know and using aloe vera gel with it at night helps the slight burning and flaking hope this helps!!
Bare Escensuals (sp?) mineral makeup is fantastic. Give’s great coverage and colour matching and is actually good for acne prone skin. I’ve just started using it and I’ve seen a big difference in the amount of congestion in my skin.
Also, us MD Formulations for cleanser and scrub and Rationale (I think you have to see a beautician to get this) for specialist treatment of the skin.
But definitely start with the bare escensuals. You can get it online.
Good luck. Think positive, give your skin a bit of lovin
even though it p’s you off.
I was exactly the opposite. I never wore makeup until I was thirty and now I only wear it to go to work or go out because it looks greasy and feels greasy on my face.
I wish you the best of luck in not wearing makeup but it will take some getting used to.
