Does Accutane cause premature aging of the skin?
Hi,
I’ve used Accutane (for acne) a while back and had great results with it at the time. I never really noticed any signs of premature aging as such but since it causes a great deal of skin dryness, and dry skin is said to age faster, maybe this is the link? However, I did find an article a while back describing the mechanism of Accutane that claims that it does shorten telomeres in the DNA – this could surface as premature aging as telomeres growing = cells dividing = new cell growth/skin renewal.
All in all, maybe it is possible and if you’re like me, are using accutane for acne and would rather be safe than sorry, might be best to lay off Accutane if you can (If I’d known as much about it as I do now, I’d definitely have laid off it – my acne resurfaced a couple of years after I stopped taking it anyway and was even worse than before!)
The Best Way to Prevent Wrinkles is to Target the 3 Root Causes of Aging Skin
No one ever talks about the underlying causes of aging. Yet targeting these root causes is the best way to prevent wrinkles. It’s not just the best way either; it’s the only way. For healthy skin, people may tell you to eat fruits and veggies, drink water, get mud masks, and stay out of the sun. Yes, it’s true that living healthy will benefit your skin, but don’t expect it to work miracles on wrinkles. You see, wrinkling skin is a natural part of aging, not an effect of an unhealthy lifestyle.
So what can you do? Use a top wrinkle cream containing ingredients that target the three big, underlying skin agers. What are these skin agers?
Collagen and elastin loss
The breakdown of hyaluronic acid
Free radical oxidation
Have you heard of these before? If you forgot everything else you know about wrinkle-prevention and focused on these skin agers, you would be savvier than 99 percent of other skincare consumers. Without exaggerating, I tell you that reversing these natural processes is the best way to prevent wrinkles.

Let’s discuss the loss of collagen and elastin. This loss happens slowly as you get older. The production of these two skin proteins slows down causing skin to lose firmness. Everyone’s skin experiences this; you can either live with it or try to increase the level of collagen and elastin yourself.
It’s possible to boost collagen and elastin production?
With a top wrinkle cream, yes, it’s possible. But your cream needs to contain the right ingredients – ones that stimulate skin cells to produce more collagen and elastin. This is how it must happen, from the inside. Many skin creams, however, actually list collagen on the label, making consumers believe that they can rub new collagen into their skin. Beware of these. The cosmetic collagen in these products is unabsorbable by skin cells; the molecules are too large.
Okay, now let’s get into the meat of this article and talk about Cynergy TK. What is it? It’s a natural ingredient extracted from sheep wool. It contains functional keratin, a protein that’s vital to skin structure. In human clinical trials, it’s been scientifically-proven to stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin.
This is a very exciting ingredient if you’re looking for the best way to prevent wrinkles. I personally use a top wrinkle cream that contains Cynergy TK. It gives me confidence knowing that this cream stops the processes that create wrinkles rather than just covers them up.
Your next step? Well, we only went over one of the major skin agers in this article. There are two others listed above; at my website I go over all three causes of skin aging in a lot of detail. You can learn what they are and which natural substances stop them.
