Black women have a higher risk of Aids or is the government trying to scare us from being with our black men?
It’s because Aids was started in monkeys and we didn’t originally have monkeys in the U.S. So Africa and other countries that eat monkey (Africa at the top) were more at risk to get HIV/AIDS.sounds like a bunch of bs to me. everyone is at risk just as much….i wouldn’t take it to heart.NOBODY is impervious to AIDS. Everyone is affected by it the same way, whether they’re black, white, hispanic, asian, etc. It attacks your white blood cells (specifically the helper t-cells) which are found in every person of every gender and race.
african-americans make up most of the statistic for completely different reasons relating to poverty, family size, income levels, and other general life factors. i’m really not meaning to sound offensive, but as a vast generalization (and i emphasize VAST), the quality of life for many african-americans is not as great as many caucasians.
but biologically, there is no reason why HIV would affect one race/gender more than another. it’s mostly about lifestyles and the people who have greater chance of coming in contact with an infected person in the first place.Ok first off please do not take this the wrong way. I am in the medical profession! The reasson why (medicaly speaking) african american women are more likely to contract the Aids/Hiv virius is due to them being at higher risk the white women. The reasson behind this is the lack of sex education and yearly examinations. also sterotypicaly speaking the lower income levels and lack of health insurance among african american women the white women. Now im not saying that white women in the same situation are not at a high risk for the disease. The key here is to educate all people weather they be male female, black,white, hispanic and so on and so forth on the disase and how it is contracted. and to make yearly examinations available to all women weather they have the health insurance or not!!! The increased prevalence of certain conditions (AIDS, pregnancy, obesity, etc) in certain populations is usually related to lifestyle factors (habits) that are more common to a generalized group, but these are factors than any particular INDIVIDUAL (ie, you) can alter! The news is reporting the trends that they see based on how the majority of people of a certain demographic behave. You can change this by choosing something different for yourself. I have herpes type 1 cold sores but not genital herpes but they society would have you think every black person you see has genital herpes and if you see me, I DON’T HAVE IT! so I think the government overexaggerates everything on blacks. The scientists discovered that a genetic trait, found in 60 percent of African-Americans and 90 percent of Africans, makes HIV infection 40 percent more probable. Furthermore, the trait is practically absent in white people. The trait also guards people who carry it against a form of malaria that is now very rare.I was thinking the same thing. When I read the article, my first instinct told me something is not right with these stats and if Black women are getting HIV like this then White women would be on the rise as well. Yes HIV/AIDS is serious and we should all practice safe sex but this fixation on drilling into everyone’s head that Black women are infected with HIV is not true and implies a hidden motive. Honestly it’s drilling into decent Black men to stay away from Black women and vice versa. If Black people don’t have sex with one another they won’t reproduce.
To the poster who said Black people have a genetic trait to catch HIV is ridiculous and a down right lie. You mean to tell me White people can catch and spread Chlamydia, Syphilis, Gonorhea, HPV, Herpes at a higher rate than other races but all of a sudden Blacks are more prone to getting HIV? HPV is a virus just like HIV. Something is not right. Let me say that I am HIV negative, Black, College Degreed, and financially secure. As it’s been also reported on tv/websites/books that ALOT of black men are secretly on the down-low, having sex with other men. And since most black women are with black men, thats why black women might be at a higher risk.
I really don’t know the precentage of black men with other race women. But I heard is not alot, at least, not as big of a number as people try to make it out to be. But in the years to come, I think the HIV precentage will rise in other races of women. Not sure if the media will report it though.
But ALL RACES are at risk and it’s lack of morals that plays in role in it too. No one waits till they marry to have sex anymore. And even wrost, alot of people just jump into bed with people too soon in a relationship. Not too mention, the new trend, *Friends with benefits*. Which promotes young men and women to “hook-up” in other words, have sex with so-called friends with no commitment. And a person usually goes from one friend w/ benefits, then gets bored, and finds a new friend with benefits. NO MORALS!!!
