How To prevent Pimples

Hi,

This is my second article on fighting Acne, Pimples and zits.

What I would like to discuss on this article is how to prevent pimples from breaking out on your skin.

The subject I will touch on, is cleansing and clearing the skin of dead cells.
The term is called “Exfoliation”.

Exfoliation is the removal of dead skin cells. It’s a treatment that limits the amount of dead cell that get built up on the skin. Regular exfoliation will smooth and soften the skin, give you a brighter complexion and reduce breakouts of pimples.

Before I continue let me explain how the skin naturally rids itself of dead cells.

The skin naturally sheds dead skin cells through a process called “Desquamation”.
On an average every 28 days a new skin cell is born. This new cell travels up from deep within the skin to the surface of the skin. Once it reaches this level of the skin, the cell is considered dead. Ideally, new skin cells arrive at the skin’s surface, pushing older cells off.

With normal skin, dead skin cells are constantly being pushed away naturally. With acne-prone skin, dead cells remain stuck on the skin’s surface and within the hair follicle, creating a clog . This clog of cell debris and accumulation of oil forms a blackhead. If infected by bacteria an  inflamed blemish or pimple is produced.

So in the cases where the skin is not able to shed dead skin cells naturally, an outside source of exfoliation is needed to help the process along. Regular use of an exfoliant can reduce the formation of blackheads and blemishes by keeping the follicles free of blockages.

There are hundreds of exfoliating products and treatments available, but all are found in one of two forms, “Physical” or “Chemical”.

Physical Exfoliants:

Physical exfoliants work by manually removing dead skin cells with the help of an abrasive ingredient. Physical exfoliants may be as simple as a scrub bought at a local pharmacy, or as complex as a professional treatment like microdermabrasion.

Microdermabrasion, also referred to as mechanical exfoliation or micro-resurfacing, is a method for facial rejuvenation that uses a mechanical medium for exfoliation along with adjustable suction to remove away the outermost layer of dead skin cells from the epidermis. It is a non-invasive procedure, which is performed in-office by a trained skin care professional

Physical exfoliants leave your skin feeling soft and smooth rejuvenated, but they may not be the best choice for acne-prone skin. The friction involved can irritate already inflamed skin, causing redness and promoting additional breakouts. Those with acne, especially inflamed acne, should avoid physical exfoliants altogether, unless advised by your doctor.

Examples of physical exfoliants include Scrubs, Abrasive pads and cloths and  Microdermabrasion.

Chemical Exfoliants:

Chemical exfoliants dissolve or loosen the bonds that hold dead cells on the skin’s surface by means of an acid or enzyme. Exfoliating acids and enzymes can be found in the form of lotions, gels, masks, toners, and more.

Chemical Exfoliants can be bought over the counter at your local pharmacy and are usually gentle enough to treat your skin daily.
If your looking for a stronger treatments, as well as chemical peels, you can find them available at day spas and skin spas. The estheticians at these places can help you decide which treatments is best for your skin.

Some Tips:

Most chemical exfoliants will dry the skin to some extent. After treatment using an oil-free moisturizer will help your skin from dryness, peeling, and irritation.

Don’t hesitate to always ask your doctor for advice. Avoid using several exfoliating products at the same time. If a product causes considerable irritation or discomfort, discontinue use and consult your doctor.

I hope that this small article answers some of your question and has been of some help on dealing with acne and pimples and the different treatments available.

Until my next article.

Thank you for reading

what is the best acne cream to prevent zits?
you should try Klear action and yes kear is spelt with a kI’m not sure if one should use it to PREVENT acne, but Proactive (that stuff you see on TV all the time) is excellent for clearing it up.

As for me, I use the Clinique three-step process, which has always worked extremely well. The best part is, they can match you up to one of four levels, so you aren’t getting a forumla too strong or too weak for your skin type. Clinique is pretty much available at any department store with a cosmetics department, and it’s not expensive. If you use cotton balls and Listerine to clean your face nightly, you should never have a problem:~)CLINIQUE… I’v used clinique for a month now and I love it. I bought it at Sephora or you could try Bloomingdales or Lord& Taylor. It works so well, I have yet to breakout. The active ingredient benzoyl peroxide reduces acne, but is also very bad for your skin (unless you want to look much older than your age). There is a much better alternative: Tea Tree Oil, which is an antiseptic, a fungicide, and a mild solvent. This is just one of the natural ingredients that can effectively fight and prevents acne. Skin Actives Scientific is an absolute life saver. Check it out & you can thank me later. They also sell some of the best (if not the best) skin care products. Juliets Cosmetic is also a great place to get the ready to use, all natural, acne fighting solution
